The project received initial funding from the Legal Services Board Grant Program in 2015 and is currently funded until December 2019. The Health Justice Partnership was one of eight projects awarded by the LSB in 2014 to establish links between legal services and community health services.

As of December 2017 the program has been funded by contributions (financial and non-financial) from each partner and in 2018, received further funding from the Victorian Law Foundation to build resources and deliver customised legal training and consultation to workers in the Ballarat and Central Highlands region on identifying legal needs of young people and how to support young people with complex legal and health issues. This builds on existing work to provide a health justice legal service for young people in the region which emphasises supported, early and timely intervention with a collaborative/integrated service model.
